"...if you don't go, you don't like kids with AIDS..."
So, it's been awhile since I wrote in here. In fact, I have last year's PABC xanga entry not too far from this one. Anyway, I'm pretty apathetic this year so I'll just post one picture and a youtube video from our performance. Since we're short two members of the band this year (singer and keyboardist), we just played as a guitar/bass/vocals ensemble called Man Bear Pig. And the drummer decided to play the harmonica instead. Here's a picture:
Also, this year is the public debut of my new reissued '75 Fender Jazz Bass that I purchased last year. It's pretty. Here's a youtube vid of a small 2 minute snippet of our performance, that includes my solo thingy. It's kinda drowned out by the harmonica though, sorry. Just turn it up.
So at 7:07 pm on 7/7/07, I was at the corner of 2nd Ave and 1st St in Manhattan. Would'nt it have been cool if I was on the corner of 7th and 7th at that time? I don't even know if that intersection even exists, but if it does, that must have been the nexus of the universe.
In other news, later that night I was at the Anthology Film Archives, and watched an extremely rare screening of "Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation." Pretty much, its a remake of that classic movie, done by 3 twelve-year-olds who made it over a span of 7 summers back in the mid-eighties. It was rediscovered recently, somehow found its way to Steven Spielburg, who then wrote them a letter of appreciation for it.
The thing about that movie is that not only is it a damn good movie for 12-year-old film makers of the eighties, but that its a damn good movie in general. Albeit all the characters were played by kids and they obviously aren't the best actors, it was still an extremely well done movie (the stunts and sets were terrific, and they were even able to shoot scenes on a damn submarine!) It was also neat to see the actors mature 7 years as the movie went on.
So I took a standardized patient's history last week for my final exam. I asked him if there's anything going on in his life to see if there was any psycho-social component to his symptoms. He told me that his 14-year old granddaughter is pregnant. The first thing I said in response was "Congratulations!!"
So another week and some days and I'm done with the my first year here at Drexel. I must say, this has been the slowest year of my life, yet still somewhat enjoyable.
So yeah, after my last final on Friday, June 1st, a few of us are gonna head to NY for the Philippine Independence Parade and Festival, then I'm going to Wisconsin to see Christine, then we'll head home on the 9th of June (btw, that's her birthday people). Then after two weeks at home, I'm back in Philadelphia to counsel high school gunner kids at the Mini-Med School. Joyous.
And here's the number one ranked ping-pong player at Drexel Med on his 24th birthday.
And congrats to Dr. Ai and other peeps who've graduated. Yaaaaay-hey!
So I lost my first matchup for the DrexelMed PingPong Ladder yesterday against that damn Aaron Carter. But then again, you can never beat somebody at anything in life when they have crazy 8-pack abdominals that rivals that of the gods of old.
